Wolfren’s Fate Part 1 is coming soon!

No one knows what happened to Wolfren, the wizard who built the tower that sits in the center of Blackarch. Some say he died when the dragon that gave Wyrmbone its name came and settled on his tower. Others say he fled, leaving the town for other dangerous adventures. Some believe he still lives, toiling away under the tower ruins, and will one day emerge more powerful than ever!

Wolfren’s Fate is a four part adventure that serves as an introduction to the world of Eventide, a new setting build specifically for Pathfinder Second Edition! Part 1 of this adventure is coming soon on DriveThruRPG as a PDF and Print on Demand!

Preview of the Penumbrist Text

The first draft of the Penumbrist is now live! Supporters of my Patreon have access to the entire class, its feats, and focus spells, but just in case you are not a Patron, I wanted to give you just a glimpse into the shadows so that you could learn what this class is all about.

Penumbrist

Walking through shadow, this occult spellcaster hears a calling from the dark, a voice that promises power and glory. For some, it is a jester, laughing from the darkness, finding humor in the gloom. Others find their voice to be a snarler, urging the penumbrist to lash out at those who deny their power. Finally, for many the shadow is a whisper, urging stealth and caution in all things, using secrets and guile to win the day.

The penumbrist thrives in the shadow; warping and weaving the gloom to control the battlefield and befuddle the minds of foes. Want to learn more about this new class? You can download a preview right here, containing all the rules needed to make a 1st level penumbrist for yourself!

March of Destiny

The Eventide Campaign playtest is almost here and it is time to look at one of the most innovative new systems to be added to the world of Eventide: Destiny.

Destiny

Every player character in the world of Eventide has a calling, a path laid out before them by the fickle strings of fate. As a player you get to decide the destiny for your character and this choice gives you a number of new ways to spend your Hero Points during play. Will you guide them to glory or leadership? Or will your choice lead them to an early grave? No matter the choice, each Destiny grants abilities that allow your destiny to be made manifest.

But rather than just talk about it, I wanted to give everyone a sample of what this system contains by releasing a FREE pdf containing the basic rules and three sample Destinies. Patreon supporters at the scholar tier and higher get access to the full system and all 15 Destinies right NOW. Take a look!

Eventide is Evolving!

2 Mar

Eventide is evolving, and I am excited to share the news with all of you! When I first dreamt of Eventide back in 2016, it was to be a grand, dramatic campaign. I commissioned art for six characters, began writing their rich backstories, and assembling their statistics. Then, something changed. I realized that what I was creating was far bigger than a single story. It was an entire world.

As time rolled on, my work on the dramatic campaign slowed, as I had to spend more and more time working on world details that I needed to complete the story. In 2019, I devoted an entire month to putting down over 60,000 words of content on the setting of Eventide. With it, I knew there were going to need to be changes to the original campaign to suit the broader story of the world.

Then the pandemic hit and everything was on hold again.

Toward the end of 2021, my thoughts once again drifted to Eventide. I had poured so much of my creativity and time into the project, but aside from a few playtest games at conventions, no one else had gotten a chance to experience it. This world lived almost entirely inside my head and in a series of gigantic documents on my server. That had to change.

My previous approach went too big. I tried to create a large piece of the world, waiting to polish and perfect it before sharing it.  Of course nibbling away at something that large takes forever and it is easy to lose momentum or be distracted by other projects. I should know better. I work best when I have small, concrete goals and a reason, a drive to complete them. And that is when it hit me, the best way to get Eventide moving again was to run a home game set in the world. This would keep me working on the world, while also getting to have some fun with my work.

Of course, I soon after realized that I could go one step further. Instead of just sharing it with my players, I could share it with all of you through my Patreon! Starting next month, I will be hosting weekly streams to let you get a peak behind the screen. Better yet, I am going to share the adventure pages with you as well, letting you run the adventure alongside my groups as well! If all goes to plan, my home campaign will start in early April.

In the ramp up to this campaign, I have started building the Player’s Archive and the GMs Library! Patreon supporters have all of these pages right now. These pages are far from complete, so make sure to check back regularly for updates.

Of course, this meant a change to my Patreon as well. Instead of charging when the PDFs were released, I’m moving to a monthly model to support the ongoing content creation. All of the money raised will be going to art, edit, and layout at first to help turn my ideas into beautiful, well crafted products. The first charge will be April 1st, giving you plenty of time to check out the campaign and its progress.

Well, that’s all for now. Until my next post, wander over the Patreon to get a complete picture of the benefits of being a supporter. If you are already onboard, check out the Player’s Archive and GM’s Library to learn more about Eventide and the upcoming adventure!
