Eventide

Since Eventide, something is wrong with the world.
Magic is fading, and the world is fading with it.
Not all at once, but slowly, day by day this vital spark drains from the world. Most live their whole lives without ever noticing, too busy with their own troubles to realize that the next night may be the last. But there are some who see the gathering darkness and decide that if they can buy the world just one more day, that it would be a fight worth dying for.

You are that hero.

Eventide is a complete RPG campaign setting, designed to be compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying game, second edition. Funded via Patreon, Eventide supporters can view and participate in the first ever campaign set in the world. This also gives them the chance to create their own stories in the world of Eventide.

Eventide is an old world, and in ages past, magic was far more common than it is today. Then Eventide came. For three weeks, the world was shrouded in darkness. The sun never rose, and chaos ruled the land. Most thought it was the end of days. It was not. Eventide was the start of something far worse. Magic is draining from the world and with it go all of the creatures and places tied to that ancient power.

The Story of Eventide

The start of this campaign focuses on the continent of Alnir, home to the mighty Zankarr Imperium. Once ruled in peace by the Elves and the Dwarves, the Imperium took over after Eventide, as those peoples went into decline. Now only the fringes of the continent are outside the Imperium’s control.

The Icescar Valley is one such region. Located in the north of Alnir, this valley sits between the free city of Varnathis to the west and the independent port of Tusktown to the east. These lands occupy the entire northern border of Zankarr, from the Siren’s Sea, all the way to the Valmar Ocean. The largest city in the Valley is Wyrmbone, a resolute community of folks from all walks of life. Thriving in the face of the Imperium threat and the frigid winters that sweep through the valley, Wyrmbone is a haven for adventurers and common folk alike!

It is in the town of Wyrmbone that the first introductory adventure is set. “Wolfren’s Fate” is designed for 1st level characters. Players will get a sense of the story of Eventide throughout this adventure. They might even get a hint at even greater mysteries to uncover! This adventure will be the first focus of the Patreon campaign and playtest!

What Makes Eventide Special

Eventide is the first campaign setting design specifically to utilize all that Pathfinder Second Edition has to offer, getting the most out of this amazing game engine! Built by one of the designers of the game, Eventide feels right at home within the rules of the game. Here is just a few, spoiler free, examples of how Eventide gets the most out of Pathfinder:

  • New rules content made specifically for Pathfinder, including a new ancestry, backgrounds, and dozens of class feats. And a brand new CLASS, the Penumbrist, a spellcaster who uses shadow magic to control the darkness within.
  • The four traditions of magic inform the cosmology of the world itself. Each tradition is powered by one of the four planes that surround the world, and they are tied into its creation.
  • Rarity is used to reinforce the story of the world. Some core elements have different rarities to reflect the story of the world.
  • Destiny has been added as a part of character creation. This gives players agency over their character’s fate and special ways to get the most out of their hero points.

And that is just the start! Eventide features new rules and options for players and GMs to use when playing in this world, making for a rich and engaging play experience!
